Got my Sunfire when I was 19 and got rid of it when I was 30, so 11 years.
Got mine December of '99.
Helluva path that it's gone through over the years.
From a daily driver with ricey mods to mods that meant more than cheap autozone crap, to paintball team transportation, and finally a few years in the garage taking a dramatic turn to what I always wanted.
I'm pretty much through with it as funds aren't anywhere they used to be but it's always going to be in the stable along with the 'yota and Porsche.

Thank you Dave and JBO!
I'm the original owner of my Z24, bought it in May, 1989.
So that's 22 years!
i got the skwirl in the summer of 03, so 8 years for that one.
i've owned 4 jbodies total tho, and I own two currently.
My first car when I was 16 was a 89 cavy. Traded it for a 97 Z24. Traded that for my current 2001 Z24. Also had another 89 cavy wagon, and a 96 Z24, and my current daily 97 sunfire.
I have never owned anything but a J.

I have owned my 2005 Sunfire since November of 04. So 6.5 years Only 47k miles on it and I plan to drive it until it dies. Love the car.
November of this year will be 10 years
3 or 4 years now, don't remember when I bought it, somewhere around 06 - 07.
- Your not-so-local, untrained, uncertified, backyard mechanic. But my @!#$ runs
Bought mine in August 2004. Coming up on 7 years.
Bought mine May of 01, just passed the 10 year mark for me.
"Oil Leak ? What oil Leak ? Oh, Thats Just The Sweat From All The HorsePower!!"
Ive had mine since 0 miles in 2004.. been a wonderful ride.. im fixing to list it on here for sale it now has about 125 thousand miles on it and still not a problem.. its modded to death lol and someone is gonna get there dream cavi!
I bought my 00 Cavalier in 2001. Had just short of 9,000 miles on it then. It now has 231,000 miles on it. It's filled with little dents and dings, but I feel no need to replace it. Amazingly, other than the transmission and basic stuff like tires/brakes/battery, a lot of the parts are original. The only car I've ever personally seen that has held up better than mine is my uncles 96 Subaru Impreza which has nearly 350,000 miles on it - original transmission and engine.
It's amazing how long a car will last with a little basic maintenance. Neither me nor my uncle take "perfect" care of our cars. Just an oil change every 3-4k miles... The occasional coolant flush and tranny fluid change. Simple stuff. On the flipside you see jackasses who buy new cars and ruin them by 80,000 miles.
I've had my Cavy since 95, first and only owner an still have it.
Time to get it going again.....
december of 02 for my 97z = 8.5 years
may of 05 for my 98z = 6 years
december of 09 for my 00z = 1.5 years
Bought my 2000 Z24 in March 2011 so like 4-5 months now. Dont plan on getting anything else for at least another couple years.
2000 Cavalier Z24 5spd - Intake, Dynomax muffler, Hawk Pads, Powerslot rotors, Sportlines/Koni reds, Neon Coil, MSD 8.5 Wires - **SOLD**
2014 Kia Forte Koup SX 6spd - 1.6L Turbo - My new car
2015 Kia Sorento EX V6 AWD - Wifes Car
Wish I would've left it just like this

Your math....sucks.
I've had mine for just over 3 years now (renewed the plates yesterday), which is about 3 years longer than I've ever planned on owning a Cavalier. But, it's made a great beater car so far.
2000 Ford F-250 7.3 Powerstroke 4x4 - Not stock
1973 16' Tahiti Speedboat
1983 200 HP Mercury BlackMax
1997 Chevy Cavalier with 275K miles
Hey guys, I just rejoined this group after many year absence. I owned my 1990 cav Z24 black since new oct 31, 1989 until it was t boned and totalled in september 1991 at only 22,000 miles. I ended up with a mitsubishi eclipse for about a year until i bought my current 1993 sunbird red 2 door 2.0 liter 5 speed new on june 7, 1993. Sadly it just met a pole hard, and isn't comming back. Currently looking to replace one of these. I posted in automobiles wanted.
I've had my 96 since 2005, so thats 6 yrs for me

I've had my 94 since 2000, so thats 11 years, but had a 90 before that (since 96), so 15 years of Cavaliers.
bluZ24 is the winner so far, has anyone owned a 85 since new? (or a 84 if you have a caddy I think)

Well, considering that is closing in on 30 years, i'm going to go with no.
1982 was the first year for the J-Body. not 84

=) Yay for smart parents lol. My mom got ours sometime in 1990. It's still alive after 21 years and 110,000 miles =). At this point I'd say barely hanging on though. I need to go rescue her.
