2.2 ecotec no resistance on turning over

03 sunfire. Had dead battary, fuel pressure reg mess up. But it had a resistance start up the next time noting. Just like the starter spring the fly wheel and belts turning but not trying to start just spinning.

Run a compression check. Auto parts stores should rent the tester or Harbor Freight sells an inexpensive one if you like to buy tools.

Also have someone turn it over while you listen for air pumping in & out of the throttle body or exhaust like a valve is stuck open.

It's probably junk. Guessing the timing skipped and bent valves. Either way no resistance means no compression which means no bueno.
