Help... Misfire on 3rd cylinder
Wednesday, February 16, 2005 7:16 PM
Recently my CEL came on and turned out to be a misfire on the 3rd cylinder. What are my options to fix this.I will be getting spark plugs tomorrow. If that doesnt work what else can I try? Thanks

Definitely replace your plugs first. Then check your wires.

To check your wires, start your engine, and then pull each of your plug wires from the plug, and hold it close to the engine. If it is working right, it should visibly [and audibly] spark onto your engine block. If not, see if the other cylinder on that coil is firing by doing the same thing. If it's firing fine, you probably have a bad wire. If it is not firing, they you have a bad coil, or a bad ICM.

What is the mileage on your car?
