Only thing I worry about is if I use the HO cams on the intake and exhaust, will that be too aggressive for the computer? Will it through codes for misfire? Who has used a modified HO intake cam?

Well that is good to hear. So the computer has adjusted now?

Sounds great...I definitely dig the supercharger.

Yeah the biggest problem i have now is getting traction The new pulleys make the supercharger that much sweeter too. I guess i will have to start looking at the port and polished head now.

As far as i know, the stock ecu can't handle HO cams...not sure if anybody has tried it though.

According to protomec, who has built 2 2.4L engines with HO cams, the computer is fine with them, and they throw NO codes on the OBDII system.

Only thing wrong with them besides the intake cam not having the hex or CPS pickup, is you HAVE to use the 2.3L cam housings, because there is not enough clearance in the 2.4L ones for the larger 0.410" lift lobes.

REALLY?? hmmm music to my ears...I think i'll stick with the secret cams...

Do you need 2.3L lifters as well? The cam housings are MUST. Are there any modifications that need to be done to the 2.3L cam housings?

Well with 2.3L housings, you will have to use 2.3L lifters as they are 35mm instead of 33mm. No other modifications are necessary, they have the same oil passages and the same bolt pattern.

I would stick to the secret cams if you are not racing the car and have not disabled the rev limiter. The HO cams make most of the power above the stock rev limiter up to about 7000rpm.

I would think the 2.3 LO would be a good cam to use if you can gethte Hex Drive and CPS put on it. because although the intake came is increased by 13degrees it is still only 0.006 more lift. I think the LO Cams with 200deg@0.50 and 0.375 should work better. And give a good overall gain.

I am believe that more and more every day. The HO cams are great if you are racing and have converted to OBD 1, but for OBD2 and normal everyday driving with the occasional race, I am sure it will be much better with the LO cams.

And they will be evenly matched:

200@ 0.050", 0.375" lift, intake
200@ 0.050", 0.375" lift, exhaust

That is what i am thinking as well it is just no one has gone through the trouble of making the modifications to the cam or even buying JPM cams.

JPB is going to cost around $300-$350 for just the intake cam. That sounds kinda Pricey as the kit is just over $500.00

Not worth the money. I am going to see if the machine shop that does my oil pan for the 2.3L oil system modification will put the CPS pickup and the hex drive on the intake cam for me. I'll let you know how much it costs if they agree to do so.

JBP is too damn expensive. It is almost cheaper to just go to GM and buy their stuff.

oh yeah, they are cheap as hell, not worried about the cost of the cam, I am more thinking about how much the machine work will be. I am definitely doing it for the new motor. No questions now. I will have the machine work done and compare them with the secret cams I am running now.

sounds good. Where did you end up getting the cams? car-part.com?

I have a set lined up, I just have to make the purchase. I'll be waiting a couple of weeks. Please post back once you get the cams in and let me know how they run...if it is any different than the secret cams at all...if you even have them.

I know. I tried to explain the 2.3 only has two cams one for the intake and one for the exhaust and responded like i did not know what i was talking about. I just said thank you and hung up the phone.
