Is this gonna hurt air flow....

ok....I have a 2002 2.2l ecotec with the pacesetter 4-1 header, aem cai, original cat and a borla 2" cat back. Is a 2" cat back gonna hurt the airflow or performance. Is the piping to small or just right.

It drives nicely but was wondering if I needed a 2.25 instead.

Thanks org!
Alex

It's not going to kill it, but I hardly see the point of getting a larger cat and intermediate piping only to have a smaller cat-back

There has to be a reason why they designed it with 2" piping. Just my 2cents

With 2.25" you'll get more top end without losing any low end. With 2.5" on an N/A, you''"ll lose some low end torque, it can"t maintain the 260-280fps to support the scavaging effect need for the low end.

Smaller pipes are good for the velocity needed to develop toque, but you lose some high end horsepower. Larger pipes sustain volume for higher rpm hp, but cost low end torque. Torque gets you off the line, gives quicker throttle response, and is good for all around daily driving. Horsepower is what makes speed at the endof the run.
