Oil in air box
Saturday, February 19, 2005 1:18 PM
Hey guys i was taking my tunner tube out today and noticed their was some oil in the air box over the motor, not the one with the filter. Its coming out of the little black pipe connected to the air box. I want to know if this is a problem or not before my warranty is over.

i forgot the technicalities, but in laymans terms its recycling oil that wasnt used or something like that. is normal, nothing to worry about. however, it is better for your engine to put a breather filter on there i am told. i did, just cuz i put an intake on it and the guy gave me the breather for nothing.

Its called Blow-by, and the "tube" is the crankcase breather.

open your TB and look into your intake manifold...you will prob see a small puddle on the bottom. as well your entire intake tract from that tube back (including the head ports and intake valves) will have a slight oil residue...it will heat up and form varnish/gun inyour ports and on your valves. you can remove it with seafoam or a similar product. alot of people use a breather filter instead of that tube to keep the oily air out of the intake.
