going from stock 97 Z24 to 14.9

i have a bone stock 1997 Z24 with a 5spd and i was wondering what you guys think i should get thats inexpensive and would get me to run faster the 15.0s on the track

i have an intake coming in as we speak and im getting motor mounts next week but what else will i need

btw i dont want to use nitrous oxide or a turbo/supercharger

hmmmm....
header/full exhuast
secret cams
unorodox crank pulley/AEM alternator pulley
HO intake-port matched to the 2.4 head/custom intake w/ K&N filter

B&M short throw shifter
poly. tranny mounts
Stage 2 clutch
phantom grip LSD

minor weight reduction

depends on where u live, how you drive...track condtions, car condtions/quailty-miles etc.

some have gotten 14's with a lot less....most dont....i havnt and i have most of these mods my best is 15.4

the jbp stage 2 cams suposedly add 22hp

what do u think i could really expect

im sure he doesnt have $1000 to do all that work dood
the secrect cams when done with the right mods add about 15

i dunno about the 22hp cams but they said the ecotec give 13 but i asked them and they told me they didnt dyno them yet.

correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to remove a 2.4 before you can pull the cams? If not i'll be pissed. I sold off my grand am 2.4 (sweet ass car it was) and i was told i had to pull the motor to change them out. I would have done the secret cam swap.
But if u do have to pull the motor, then i would rethink my mods list.

no way do you have to pull the motor to change cams on the LD9.

has anyone ever ran a before and after dyno test for this? No, and if they have it has never been posted here. 15 is a seat of the pants dyno result. If I had to guess, I would say closer to 10...but until someone puts it on the dyno, we will never know.

some one did do a dyno, a long time ago they got some think 8-12HP gain. That was done before i got my cams and i have had my cams for about 2 years now.

Jrs Z, this is probably the most written about topic in this forum. just go to the top of this forum and typ in "secret cam" and as of this time ther were 36 postings on the quick search, archives has 46(excluding replies) and who knows how many in-between.

if you throw the stage two on it will just slow your car untill it modded higher
