2.4L head gasket +overbore

Where do I get a headgasket to compensate for the overbore on the motor I am building? Or is this something that you just use the stock gasket for? I really dont think that would be a good idea, so any information would be helpful.

it is just something I was thinking about the other night and thought I would ask.

depending on how big you go. up to .040 over you can use the same one.

Really? I am 0.030" over, so I guess I need not worry. I was just thinking that the metal ring that is in the head gasket will hang over into the cylinder like an 0.030" lip.

no it won't. I'm at .030 over too and it doesn't cause trouble.

Well that is good news. I think the only thing I have to straighten out now is the knock sensor.

What trouble are you having w/ your knock sensor?

None yet, I have not worked on it, but I know it will be an issue to be resolved. My car is a 99, but the motor I am building was from a 98 which had a different knock sensor. I will have to see if I can get an adapter that will have felame threads for the sensor and male threads for the hole in the block. Otherwise I will have to figure out a way to use the old sensor with the 99 ECU.

so your knock sensor is like the 00+?

what are the physical and/or wiring differences in the knock sensors?

They changed it over in 99, so I have 00+ strut mounts, knock sensor, but isuzu tranny because that did not change to the Getrag until 00+. The 99 model year was a transitional year. I should have waited a year and purchased a 2000, at least then I could have supercharged it.

I dont know the differences in wiring, like I said, I have not looked into it yet. I was too busy working out the bottom end components. Which are all at the machine shop now.

oh ok...i'm not sure what mine is...if you don't have an EGR, i take it it has the 00+ strut mounts and knock sensor? (I have a '99 w/o EGR)...

Well that sounds good then. I can just use the one I get with the Fel-Pro kit and not have to worry about anything special.

Thanks all.
