Bolt-ons for 2.4L sunfire...
Sunday, February 27, 2005 6:06 PM
If I can get my money straight here soon, I'm looking to upgrade my '02 Sunfire w/2.4L DOHC. I've currently only put a short ram intake on, but am looking into getting a better intake, upgraded throttle body, headers, high-flow cat and exhaust, intake manifold and MDS ignition system.

What honest gains am I looking at...and at what cost? I've never really worked on this sort of project before, but am taking an interest since I purchased this car a couple years ago. I've also noticed that searching for parts seems to be a trick, so maybe someone can lead me in the right direction...

Thanks,
Conrad

an intake is just an intake. no difference in any of them. its just pipe and a cone filter

The gains are great with all the bolts ons, im putting in cams which will make a very nice gain. Get a light weight crank pulley and engine mounts, check my profile for osme more ideas.

Thanks for the info guys. And to explain my "better intake", the short ram intakes, attatch to a remaining plastic box that attaches to the throttle body, I'm going to a full cold-air that replaces that box as well.

But reverting to my past question, what sort of gains am I looking at, in specific, per mod and overall completed HP could I be looking at?

Thanks,
Conrad

im not trying to be an a$$, but it is impossible to answer this question, some bolt ons u will only get 2-3 hp, some u may get 15-20, no short ram intake should still keep the factory airbox, that is what they take the place of

FYI, the AEM short ram intakes connect right into the throttle body, also, if u want a cold-air for a 2.4 u have to custom make it, cuz the only one that i know of is made my injen, and it costs like $300.
