Spring is coming!

That's right, here in NY, we gotta wait until spring... anyways, I have about 2 weeks left of this cold weather and it's time to mod.

My first order of business is exhaust.

The most difficult part of exhaust in my opinion, is getting the sound you want.

I'm looking for some input here, I'm still a little lost which way to go.

I was considering a 91-95 Z34 Lumina muffler on my Z, I did like the hollow, chambered sound the Z34 produces, but we have some fairly strict cops up here, and I drive to work at 6am. So I also need something that'll be DEAD QUIET (or close) between 1k-2k rpms.

I plan on sticking with the single exhaust layout, no Y pipe or anything fancy. But I also want to avoid (no offense to anyone) the typical canister muffler sound. It's a little raspy for my taste.

In a perfect world, I'd be pushing 800 horse, 1000lb ft of torque, with 4 cylinders, and my car would sound like a V8, but I'm not Jesus, I don't perform miracles.

Anyways.. I was considering a few mufflers Summit offers, fairly cheap too. I saw one, aluminized steel I believe, for like $15.. Stailess lasts longer, but with a good coat of high temp paint, it should help any cheapo muffler last longer.

Anyways.... Give me some feedback, I know alot of you have played with exhaust and such, and know more than I do on the subject...

But if it helps, my intake sounds mean as hell.

And to avoid crawling under my car while the ground is still wet and cold, it'd help if anyone knew the muffler layout...

It's a 2001 Z24, Offset inlet? Center inlet? Offset outlet? Center outlet?

Thanks in advance,

And sorry for my rambling BS.

Brandon

I invented the idea of sniffing your fingers when you've spilled gas on them.
