Any lightweight/underdrive pulleys still available for the LN2?
Monday, November 10, 2014 9:32 PM
Does anyone know of any performance pulleys that are still available, and where they can be purchased? I've searched and searched, and I'm coming up empty.

I have a crank pulley, and an alternator pulley still.

I'll have to look up the exact prices, but I think the alternator is $75 shipped, and the crank is $215 shipped. I can confirm and get back to you if you like.

I discovered that IPP/CCW is selling new, 20% under drive crank pulleys. Their price is 159.98+ shipping. Let me know for sure on what you got though. Is that an OVERdrive alt. pulley?

Would really be awesome if I could find someone willing to sell a used set.

I also see JET underdrive pulleys listed for the s10/Sonoma. Will they work on a cavy?

I believe both pulleys you found are for 6 ribbed S10 setups. That being said you can run them if you find the correct belt, and used the 5 grooves closest to the engine.

The alternator pulley is over-driven, and smaller than stock, and is $75. The crank pulley I have is stock diameter, and is $200. I could do $285 shipped in the US, and $295 shipped to anywhere else in the world.

Nice looking piece, but I think its a bit out of my price range currently.

You say that the six rib pulley for the s-10 will physically work?

I was finally able to get to a working page for ASP pulleys. What about this pulley, only $90. Will it work?

ASP Part # 840127
20% Reduction Crank Pulley
$89.95

Assuming that it is even still available to order....?

And what about this for an alternator pulley?

ASP Part # 540120
1 3/4" Overdrive Alternator
$32.00

Although perhaps running two six rib pulleys would create belt issues... If possible, I may look into running the asp pulley with your alternator pulley?

Both pulleys will fit, and run fine as long as you get the correct belt length, and run the belt on the 5 ribs closest to the engine.

Last I knew, both of their pulleys were steel. Both pulleys are heavier than the ones I have designed.

Okay, so let me ask you this... Do you know of a belt that is the correct length for your setup? I just got off the phone with ASP, and apparently no one makes a belt that is the correct length for a 99 with an under drive pulley. Stock is 88.78, under drive would need roughly 86.3. The only sizes available are stock 88.78 and 85.7. So it looks like I'm sol either way, unless I want to also do an a/c delete.

Do you know what the difference is between the 95-97 belt drive, and the 98+ ?

I'm thinking that the most viable option may be to steal the entire six rib setup off of a truck....any thoughts on that?

I never messed with any 6 rib S-10 setups.

You have to buy quality pullies Adam, most of the cheaper ones are no longer sold because the aluminum bent, or wore away over time damaging crank seals, or worse...longevity is always an issue with an aluminum pulley which is why I prefer one with a metal sleeve and center, or all metal.... I've been out of the modding scene for a long time so I don't know much about what is out there right now.

The underdrive pulley was not worth it on my old sunfire, I think it was ASP... had dimming headlights at idle and charging issues, a small amount is OK, 20% is too much IMO.

Don't buy from MANTAPART!!
There is no easy ways to get HP, no magic box or gizmo... And if you get more hp, there's no way to make your car still behave and sound like a stock one. More hp usually makes your car louder, more vibrations and harder to drive...but still people hope or think maby there's some magic way to have it all, comfort, stock sound and drive.

I assume you are not talking about my pulleys?

A LN2 crank pulley can not damage the crank seal.....it doesn't even touch the seal. Some LD9 pulleys will develop a groove in the pulley snoot after about 75,000 miles, but half of that is caused by old hard rubber crank seals. I can also sleeve the snout of the pulley if needed / wanted.

20% shouldn't dim your lights. 30% or more sure as hell can at idle.

I just visited your page to see what-all was offered, and only found listings for "Twin-Cam" engines... Where's the one's for the Double-Deuce? (LN2)

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

I get very little requests for LN2 parts. What are you looking for?

I'm looking for LN2/L43 parts. Interested in the underdrive crank and overdrive alt... either 6 or 5 rib would be fine. Do you do matching water pump pulleys? Would be cool to have them all matched. I don't have AC or power steering. Also interested in the anodized coating if that is available.

I'm fairly certain I answered all your questions on Facebook. If not message me there or PM me.
