Engine temp.

The bird is back on the road. It has been since late June. We have been working out all the bugs. But I do have a question. What temperature does these seem to at. I have a 195' thermostat and it seems to run @206 and higher. We have both rad. and therm. Caps replaced. And of course all new coolant we have only put @600 miles on it. I'm asking because this worries me. I can't go by the dash gauges I use the scanner. The gauge stays below the 210 mark but the scanner will read 206,210. Please help with this I don't want to over heat it Thanks

That is the normal temp., in a pressurized system the boiling point is much higher than 212 degrees.

I always run the 180 degree thermostats in my
cars.
One thing to consider is that the temperature
rating is the temp when the stat starts to open.
That’s why the running temp is higher.
I also put a manual switch to the fan relay
so I can turn it on in traffic to keep the temp down.
