Head Gasket?

Has anyone had to have a head gasket replaced?
How much did it cost? I am not sure if that is what it is yet, it started leaking coolant bad last night and today I will get a better look at it. Or if anyone has had to replace it how bad was it? It is leaking from the right side of the engine when looking straight at it kind of in the middle of everything.
thanks

I'm not sure how much it would cost to have someone do it for you, I always do everything myself, so I know your looking at at least $100 for a head gasket.
To know for sure if its blown look at your antifreeze and if its got oil in it then its your head gasket for sure, if you parked it right away then you just need to change the gasket and your fine, but if you've been running it all your rubber coolant hoses get destroyed by the oil (it shrinks them and they go all out of shape and lose there integrity and need to be replaced) and the biggest problem is your oil is thinned out by the antifreeze so its really hard on your bearings in the bottom end and they will probobly go pretty soon depending on how bad the leak is. so if youve been running it you pretty much need a new motor.

On your 2.2? Chances are its only leaking to the outside since the 2.2 is very prone to leak right below the thermostat housing.

ya ... when mine was shot, it leaked out... never mixed with the oil... i couldnt have drove on for more than a week before i diagnosed why my rad fluid was leaking... however this was a few years back before i knew how to anything besides simple mechanics... firestone charged me 700 to: replace gasket, machine the head, change the oil, and flush the antifreeze.

looking back.... anal rape.....

=(

well when i did a head gasket to a 2.2 beretta at work i think they charged around 1000 or so, its not that hard to do but i know flat rate it pays about 8 hours. so it'll take you a lil time to do and if you do it yourself i think the head gasket set is about 100 dollars which includes head gasket, intake gaskets, valvle cover gasket, etc.

nothing

head gasket roughly $22.00 at Advance Auto , oil filter about $4.00 ,5 quarts oil roughly $10.00 gallon antifreeze $9.00 , and i've changed plenty of head gaskets and always used the same head bolts with never any problems. so if you have the tools id say around $50.00 if you do it yourself..........
