Is it possible to swap the rear axle in a 97 cavalier over to a 98 Grand Am disc brake axle.

Or the OP could just read the Sticky at the top of the forum about the IRS swap... and get the Grand Am rear IRS in addition to rear discs... which is indisputably, much better than just a set of Neon rear discs.

Also very true. That swap costs a lot more than you would think and I have yet to see someone actually do it right. That being getting a custom coilover made for back there or finding a coil over from another car thats fits and doing the math to get the correct spring and get it re-valved.

No, he specifically asked about swapping the axle:

The answer is yes, and the how-to is in the sticky at the top of the forum.

My swap cost me about $300 and I have no issues.. out of curiosity, what about my swap is not "right"?? I have a pair of N-body Eibach Pro-Kit springs in the back to match the pair of J-body Eibach Pro-Kit springs in the front.. so I'm matched in that respect. KYB N-body struts in the back too. If you want coilovers, use a pair of the rears from an N-body, I know they're out there.

N-body coil overs? I looked a while ago and didn't see any. Honestly the fact that no one has every built this setup for handling is not surprising since it would put you in some stupid class for auto-x. I'm tring to figure out a way to make it solidly mount to the trailing arm mounts and then user a stupid stiff spring to hold the subframe up into place do that it will be legal in street mod.
