I want to let you guys know that its very popular to swap the F-body calipers onto the W-body cars (like my Regal).

Well instead of using F-body calipers you can also use C5 Corvette Calipers which are actually MUCH better then the F-body calipers.

The C5 calipers have longer cooler fins and smaller dual pistons for less squishy brake petal like we get in the W-body cars with F-body calipers.

Pretty much on the W-body cars you use the F-body rotor, F-body Caliper Bracket, F-body caliper bolts, F-body brake pads then use simply the C5 calipers.

I would have to say you J-body guys be able to get away with this as well if you are using an F-body caliper to bolt on it.

C5 Caliper VS F-Body Caliper

I don't think there are too many people actively playing with J and N bodies; you'll probably have to actually compare them yourself. I wouldn't be the least surprised if the N-Body axles are extremely close to the same as the J. The N is slightly wider, by about 1.5", but (if I remember correctly) it came with the Isuzu (or a compatible) tranny at one point in time.

but did any of the n-body came with equal length axels?

not sure what your asking......

The Isuzu had an intermediate shaft (early production 3rd gen J's had them). For the N-body spindle/knuckle swap, you can just swap out the outer axle, there for not effecting the rest of the axle.

The Getrag doesnt use the intermediate shaft, but I believe it can be used, just doesnt fit perfect.

The N-bodies that used the Isuzu trans, had the same brakes and suspension as the J-bodies.....

Yep, 99+ used the getrag....... although if you check the GM build records, idk how many N-bodies came with the 5 speed. I know my wife had a '01 Alero 5 speed, VERY rare.

also, has anyone made their set-up 5X100? is it even possible? my cruising rims are only one bolt pattern so thats why i ask, id like to retain 5X100 for my swap.

thanks.

I'm in the same boat, did anyone findout if you can get 5x100 hubs for the swap?

I'm looking at replacing my passenger side axle and it already has this swap. It's a 2004 5 speed and I can't figure out what one i need. I know you have to reuse the input side but what axle do I need?

Hypothetically, if someone were to re-drill the hubs and rotors to 5x100 would a stock LSS or Z wheel fit?

It would fit with some major spacers, but not without them.

I should add that one of the reasons they would not fit without spacers is the hub bores on the J are far too small for those hubs.

Issue of the caliper being too wide just like any other brake caliper beside the stock one. The old issue of no backspacing on the stock wheels.

whats the difference between the f-body rotors and the w-body one???

Depends on the model. The Police brake package used F body rotors. There was a kit you could buy to upgrade your W body to F body sized rotors.

Thats what I ran also, F-body Rotors and Calipers. W-body used 11" rotors, F-body 12".....

so i can just order camaro 2000 rotors, pads, calipers, brackets, and be good

FYI, the Impala rotors are the same as the F-body, so it doesn't really matter which application you chose. For simplicity, if you're buying the rotors and pads new at the store, you might as well just order the F-body ones. The holes are drilled wide enough to accommodate both bolt patterns. I originally did my swap using rotors off a 2000 Impala. They were most definitely 12"

The above is correct. When I originally wrote this I was told there was an offset difference between F and W rotors, there is not however. OEM equipment is slightly different, with the two having different vein patterns.

Also, the J-Body ball joint "works" for a limited amount of time and will need to be replaced with a N-Body ball joint. Be extremely careful getting aftermarket ball joints as many of the N-Body models have a "tab" which protrudes outboard. This "tab" may contact the rotor. Seeing as most manufacturers don't put their name on these parts I couldn't name a particular brand that is known to work.

when ordering a set of wheels, i just need to order them for impala 2000? just wanna make sure it clear the brakes.
i have found some winter universal 16" rims on 1010tires.com
with the dual bolt pattern, it will also fit the rear.
