The swap is the same if its a 2 door or 4 door, that does not make a difference

There is absolutely no difference under the hood of the 4 door cars vs. the 2 door cars. Actually, there isn't a single difference from the firewall forward, including suspension, fenders, hood, lights, bumper, or anything. The only real differences are in the doors, interior, rear glass, and rear quarters..

If I was going to swap an engine in my Cavalier I think id find a 2.0L turbo or supercharged out of a Cobalt SS. I think this would be an easier conversion. the V6 will fit though. back in the late 90's I heard GM was toying with the idea of offering the 3100 V6 in the J cars. they even built a few for testing but they never made it to production.

Obviously you're not very familiar with the differences in the EcoTEC engines and the vehicles they come in.

what bout the trans ok and whats the donor car that carries the 3400 engine? i wanna do this asap

The best donor vehicles are 99+ Grand Ams and Aleros, as they are ready for the latest design of upper mount, plus the hoses are the ones you need (try to get the radiator hoses, heater hoses, and brake booster hose). For the trans, if you have. 2.2/2200, use the trans you have. If you have a DOHC engine, you just need the same trans, except from a 2.2/2200 car.

oh and does it have to b a grand am 4 door or 2 door?

Forget how many doors either car has. It has absolutely nothing to do with the swap.

As for the tranny, what tranny do you have? 3 speed or 4 speed?

Of the top of my head, I'm not sure there is an ECM for the 3400 that will run the 4t60e. Possibly a 96-98 Grand Am 3100 ECM, but it would need some tweaking in the tune to run the 3400 optimally.
