M45 and Zex
Wednesday, July 30, 2008 9:46 AM
Im looking into adding a zex kit to my 01 z24. I already have the gmpp m45 supercharger and the coolingmist meth injection. i want to put in 440cc rc injectors to be on the safe side because i already am running the 2.6" pulley, stock belt and the 310cc injectors still. Should i look into getting a different nozzle for my meth injection becuz im still running the one that comes with the kit? i currently have ngk tr6 plugs gapped at .030. should i get another step colder plugs? im thinking of going with the 55hp shot... safe?

I think you need to talk to IceMike89 ( http://www.j-body.org/members/icemike89/cars/1/ ). I met him over the weekend and he has the same setup as you want to run. He would probably know more than most seeing it's what he runs on his car.

Personally I think it's asking a lot out of the stock motor, especially since you're running the 2.6" pulley.

Talked to ya in pm's but Ill post as well.. Have you gotten nitrous yet?

Nitrous is safe as long as you are smart with it. Wideband is a must, and make sure you have the fuel to compensate for it even with a wet kit. Im not saying you can throw a 150 shot at it and it will all hold together even if your afr's were safe, but Ive sprayed a 75 a few times even maxing out the 310cc's and leaning out alot its still together. Like said start smaller like a 35shot, running meth also helps against detonation.

For the alchy nozzle, different kits have different size nozzles. Say a coolingmist nozzle may be 1gph, but a devilsown of the same size may be 1.1gph. You also have to factor in what size pump your using with the nozzle, whether its a 100psi or 150 which is what most kits come with.

Plug wise Im also running the coil swap with ngk tr6's, I think thier gapped at .032 but cant remember lol. Im thinking of going another step colder delco plug but Im not sure yet.

i was thinking of going with the same delco plugs that are 2 stages colder. im using the coolingmist kit with the 150 psi pump and whatever nozzle that comes with it. how do i tell when i need a bigger nozzle??

You need a TUNE! Can't just throw parts at your car and expect it to be all fine and dandy. You're definitely going to need to change the injector constant at LEAST when you put in the 440cc injectors.. if you tune it you'll be pretty safe.

By the way, it's an MP45. The M45s were the old generations.

I had a full turbo setup just about ready to go, but then traded it for the sc kit cause I wanted reliable power. Ill eventualy turbo one day after a build a motor but Im gona milk the sc for all its got, and if the m62-ld9 plenum project comes through I'll stay sc and go that route.

realistically speaking, do you think a gt30r is feasible on the ld9? any major modifications needed to run like 15psi?

well i sprayed it today for the first time and it works fine. i can honestly say that nitrous is the best dollar for dollar power adder. not to mention that the guy that filled my bottle is going to straighten my frame and line my body panels up for 200 bucks!!!!
