New deck??
Monday, June 06, 2011 9:31 AM
I'm trying to find a new deck for my cav. Things It has to have are...

Sirius radio
Double din
Smooth iPod control

Possibly bluetooth

I'd prefer a nice screen but not to worried about video playback.... But wouldn't mind it.

Looking for something that doesn't stick out huge and gaudy and fits the dash nice.

Price range I would like to keep it fairly low.

What's out there that's good?

pioneer avh 3300 cheap and should have the options you want.

for an extra 100 bucks you can go to the 4400 wich goes from a 5.6" screen to a 7" screen.

Another vote for the pioneer decks. For any and all decks, you will need to buy a secondary module for sirius, however.

I have been looking at those decks but have an issue with no physical dial controls, and i also am not a fan of the front usb port for the iphone/pod.

I was looking at the Alpine ixa - w404. I really like the manual navigation but it seems to get mixed reviews on touch screen responsiveness.

Anyone have any experience with this deck?

Do they even make that IXA-W404 any more? I thought that to be an old part number.

Also, what is fairly low in price to you? It's tough to get a high quality double din cheap. Anything of quality is going to be 600-1000....

x2! Most of the cheaper double dins seem to have front usb (cheaper pioneers), and I hate that as well. I'd stick with Pioneer or Alpine when it comes to double din's, the only thing you may have trouble finding is the rear usb and rotory knob combo on a decent double din thats still in production(exactly what I'm looking for as well).

Thats the issue...I really dont like full touch controls and the buttons for volume and sch pionee uses.

I was trying to stay in the 4-500 range though.

The ixa-w404 is a older unit but i really like it is all physical control based. I may have to just take the risk.

Kenwood Excelon's double din units are pretty damn nice. Don't rule them out.

rear ports for things like aux in and usb usually increase the cost. i know the 3300 has front and rear aux. in but doesnt help since u want a rotary knob.
