Accessory power line question
Thursday, July 14, 2011 12:22 PM
How much continuous amperage can I get out of my aftermarket decks Accessory line?

I'm hooking up a few LED strips. by a few lets play it safe and say 3 amps worth. There will be quite a bit.

*the deck won't be powering the speakers.

Thanks

i wouldnt use the acces line from a head unit to do anything but power 2-3 audio componets max. if you want to hook up lights i would use a relay.

The accessory line GOING to the deck can handle up to 10amps.

The remote turn-on power COMING out of the deck can usually handle about 0.1amps.

Yeah, I worded that wrong. Its the acc line going to the deck. I guess stock/aftermarket doesn't matter for this application. (Its a red wire if that helps)

So powering 3 amps of stuff is no problem?

Thanks

I personally would run any extra accessories off of there own line instead of tapping into your headunits power.
