02 cluster into 98

I've got a 98 cavalier that I'm having cluster issues with. It came without a tach, so I went and pulled one with a tach out of another 98. However, the fuel gauge on the new tach does not work. I took it back and swapped it for a cluster out of an 02. Does anyone have a diagram on how to wire the old style connector into the new style connector?

An 02' cluster won't work in a 95'-99' unless you completely rewire the entire car, and swap the fuel system, as 00+ need to communicate with the BCM (which 95'-99' doesn't have) and receives different input signals for the gauges.

If your car has a mechanical cluster, a cluster from a 96'-98.5' (maybe 95'?) will work, if it's digital, then you need a 98.5'-99' cluster.

You'll also need the entire 2000+ dash because the clusters aren't the same size.

The 95-99 clusters are thicker, so it would be possible to make a bracket and fit the 00'+ cluster in a 95'-99' lower dash, but IMHO, the 00+ lower dashes look better.

It's a lot of work for just a gauge cluster, but I cant speak to much, I did it.

You'd also need the 99+ fuel level sensor in the tank... because the readings are different.. I think it's 240 ohms (full) to 40 ohms (empty) on the 99-05 ones... but don't quote me on that.

All I remember... when I put an Ecotec into my 98, I had to swap EVERYTHING.... to make it work right.
