Dave Dunsmoor wrote:Mark, of course you can buy them. If you're that bent on buying them premade then make an effort at least to find some, your best bet will be circuit city/best buy/futureshop. You could also get them at crutchfield I think.

Hate to burst your bubble but I have been looking for them. Why do you think I have been asking questions here? Anyway, since you obviously didn't read my post, I am looking for adapters that will allow me to fit my COMPONENTS in the front stock speaker location. All of the adpaters posted and the ones on crutchfield are for 5 1/4" OR 6 1/2" speakers...not COMPONENTS.

But honestly, why waste the money? The thin plastic they're made of is not going to be very good for sound, making them yourself out of particle board will sound much better. Besides, it takes 30mins to do (not joking) and you can appreciate that you made it custom after you're finished.

Since I'm selling my car, do you think I care about the sound? And I know they are easy to amke, but for $15 I would rather pay for a set and have them shipped to me. That way I can do the work once they arrive and it is done quickly. Otherwise, I have to go to the store, get lumber, dig my tools outmof storage and make them. That is not worth my time.

If anyone else has seen ready made adpater plates for the front for 5 1/4" components, let me know.

Thanks,

Mark P.

no, i dont think they make them for components. just buy the adaptor for 5 1/4 speakers and mount the tweeter somewhere else(like the door panel). the tweeter would probably sound like pretty bad behind the speaker grill anyways.

and if your selling your car, why not just put the stock speakers back in, sell the car, and then put the components in your new car?

so buy some cheap ass 4x6's. you could probably get some @!#$ty ones for 15 bucks and put that in there. dont just give away a good set of component speakers. if you dont want em, i'll send you my stock 4 x 6's and you send me the components. deal?

How deep of a 6.5 can fit in the door? I know the 4x6 in the door is approx 2", I was just wondering how deep of a 6.5 you can put in the door without cutting a hole in the carpet. Also, how deep can you go without the speaker hitting the window crank?

you can actually go pretty deep with them. You can also make your bracket out of any thickness to get the speaker to fit.....obviously you have to watch for clearance for the door panel, and the window inside the door. But it isn't all that bad.

I got the adapters for my 6 1/2 Infinity 6012si's from mjautoinnovations and installed those on my '03 Sunfire, but the door panel won't shut There's like a 1/2 inch gap between panel and the door.

Is there anything I could possibly do wrong???

ThnX in advance!
P.S. If anybody's interested, those speakers don't have much bass, but they sound very clear (compared to stock 4x6's)

I'm thinking of upgradeing my door speakers in my 04 to 6.5"

How well do these brakets work. And dose anyone have a guide to removeing the door pannels on a 3rd gen?

i reused the factory 4x6 door brackets in my 05 cav just drilled some extra hloes wraped them in dynamat it worked great.

russ b take out all the screws in the door panel along the bottem there 4 or 5 i cant remember. dont forget the 2 in the arm rest.
now pull the panel towards you and up at the same time it should come right off.
oh i forgot if you have manual windows you need to remove the window winder. work a clean rag between the winder and the panel and "saw" until the little U-shaped pin comes out. the the winder comes right off

good luck
