Just an update. The Duralast pulley has given me no issues after 4k miles.

Bolts right up into the proper location. It is exactly the same width of the belt so a lot thinner than the factory pulley. I wouldn't replace it unless you need to.

My pulley is definitely gone to hell. I might go buy this and try it out....

Well I went ahead and bought it and put it on today. I searched through all of dayco's idler pulleys and could not find the stocker for sale to the public.
The new pulley bearing ID is a standard dimension that fits perfectly on the shaft (17mm). The stock pulley is 55mm in diameter, whereas the new one is 63mm. This concerned me at first since a small diamater change in a pulley can make or break your belt length, but it caused no issues. The new duralast (made by dayco) pulley is also the width (if not a hair smaller) of the belt. Due to the thinner bearing thickness, to properly bolt down the pulley (so it's not loose on the shaft) and to properly line it up with the belt, you will need to put a 2mm (est.) washer/shim behind the pulley. Besides that, it seems to be working just fine after a trip around the block.
It seems that the stock pulley bearing is held in the pulley by a circlip, and over time the ID of the pulley and depth of the circlip groove has caused it to be loose. I don't think the bearing was originally pressed into the pulley when it should have been, and the circlip groove should have been a tighter tolerance.

I kinda figured alignment would vary from car to car with how narrow that pulley is. I got lucky and mine lined up perfecting with no spacers.

IF I HAVE TO DIG THIS OUT ONE MORE TIME................
Chris
I have a 100% BAD Idler Pulley Bearing.
This seems like what you are refering to, but they don't list the "/C3". Could you please tell me if you think this is the correct one?

My blower was installed at about 53,000 miles.
Car has 126,xxx now, so I'm going to say about 70,000 miles?
Luckily I have a BRAND NEW Supercharger Kit in my basement, so I swiped the idler pulley from it,
but would like to have a couple extra ones on the shelf here...

Darren and a friend and I installed a bearing into a GMSC idler pulley this weekend for a member who got his bearing from a local bearing shop. Fit right in, sat under the circlip properly and functioned great.
I told him that he should post up the part # and company so that others may share in this joy.

hmm i should be good then. although, i did put around 8000 miles on my m45 in about 3 months last year LOL
what really sucks is down the road when you gotta rebuild the BLOWER itself. thats what im doing right now. after i finally got the right case bearings bought and got the old ones out (what a job that was) its been smooth sailing. already got the snout completely rebuilt, that was easy as pie. just in the process of polishing it back out now. good lord it got nasty... lol
It's nice to be injected but I love being blown.
hmm im gonna look into that dsm pulley, mine needs one too.
My buddy at Napa ordered me one using the number off the pulley. I will have it Saturday.
