Saab turbo coolant question
Saturday, November 19, 2011 12:04 PM
Hey I ran inroad issue with making my coolant lines. I need to get the stock lines. But my question is will it hurt the turbo to run it without the coolant for the time being? This is not my dd so it won't be drove much. I need to at least get a tune on it. Thanks guys

I ran mine at the track and DD with no coolant...
Just allow the car to idle for a minute before shutting it down. I never had a hiccup with just oil cooling...

Ya but why chance it when you already have all the fittings there for the coolant? I would install my aluminum water tees that I make, same as the saab ones but more durable and better looking, upper rad hose tee and heater core return tee.

Old post but are these tees ( at least the heater tee) still available?
I am in the middle of the saab turbo setup and the heater tee would help alot.

He still sells them. I am going to buy a set from him once I get all the bugs worked out with my Eco Saab swap. I am using a cheap plastic T right now.

I know you can run without coolant lines. People had done it. You just have to let the turbo cool down for a few minutes at idle before shutting the car off or get a turbo timer otherwise you will ruin the turbo since it will heat up when the car is off.
