4T40E Rebuild Parts Question
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 10:10 AM
Okay so after 180k miles and a supercharger on top my tranny is saying I'm done. So time for a rebuild!

I got a spare 4T40E with supposely 60k miles on it that I will be using for this build. Now my current list of needed parts are LSD, High Stall Torque Converter, Good Clutches and/or Master Rebuild Kit with intentions on performance, but still friendly enough for daily use. What I need help with is what parts to use and where to get them. So far this is what my research has come up with.

LSD: Team Green Insert - $250 - Message Brian
EP Complete Diff - $595 - IPT or Engineering Performance website
Already bought a Team Green insert.

High Stall TC: Yank 3000 - $??? - Not made, any idea of where I could find or do you know of someone who has one
IPT - ~$900 - website
Level 10 - ~$900 - website
Rezlo - $400 - website
GM OEM 73CW - $150 - Reman on ebay
This one I need big help on. Leaning towards a reman GM one since the cost is not too bad.

Clutch Packs/Rebuild Kit: Raybestos Blue Plate Special RCPS-29 - $??? - Cannot find it anywhere, help!
IPT Rebuild kit - ~$360 - website
Level 10 Bulletproof kit - ~$380 - website
Heard good things about the raybestos, but where can I get some at a good price. Bulletproof kit sounds perfect, but how good would those clutches be on a supercharged engine?

So the big things are I need a high stall torque converter and a good clutch set or rebuild kit. Any help is welcome, thanks guys!

Yes I saw that thread and got some great info on the torque converters thanks to your pdf. But it still didn't answer my question on where i can get those Raybestos clutch packs. can't find them on the internet and local shops don't know what i am talking about.

Looks like i am leaning towards the reman OEM GM 73CW converter. Unless someone knows of a place i can send mine to get a performance rebuild and set to a higher stall for a decent price.
