I need tires
Tuesday, May 10, 2005 8:10 PM
I went to get my tires rotated and the dude said they were almost slicks, so i need new tires. I want performance and daily drivable so im going with 15s and i want wider ones. I was thinking like 205/55/15, but the guy said 205/60/15 would be better. What do you guys think?

I want rims too, light ones. I asked the guy for some light rims and i think he showed me some 18lbs. I dont think that is light.... What weight would be a good light weight rim?

Sorry if these are dumb questions

205/60/15 would be the correct tire size to go with if you want wider tires. I like Toyo personally, they are a cheap good tire. I'm not sure about the weight though, there was a post a while back where someone posted the weight of a stock rim and tire, it was a lot I am sure someone can pitch in on this.

to put this into perspective, my 17" wheels weigh 24.15lbs each. ive seen other 17" wheels that were 16lbs, but they were hella expensive. what size wheels are these that are 18 lbs each?

if you have the stock 14" wheels, id say its not worth going only one inch up to 15, but look at some 16's. theres always people selling their stock 16 inch wheels, and they dont look bad either. if you go 16 inch, get a 205/55/16 tire

I ended up buying the 15s. The 18lbs thing was a mistake, they were lower than that. I think they were 13lbs, which isnt too bad.

I ended up going with 205/60/15 tires too. Hopefully it will make a good difference. I should get them by monday.

My 15" MBMotoring 747 alloys are 15 pounds each.

I am looking at some 15" SSR comps that are 8-9 pounds each...

Mine are like 21-22lbs if i remember correctly. ASA doesn't make my rims anymore tho, so I don't even know where I could go to tell you for sure. 13 lbs, that ain't bad. I know the stock rims felt like lead weights when I pulled em off- these with tires on em felt like feathers by comparison, so those stock rims are some serious rotating mass.
