Question, which number is the offset?
Friday, May 20, 2005 8:46 AM
I'm selling the rims that were on my eclipse. They are universal 5 lug, 17x7. One guy asked me what the offset is. The only number I see on the tire is 215/45R17 87H. Is one of these numbers the offset? Thanks!

Yeah, we ordered the rims from Wheelmax a million years ago, and the only info on their site said it was 17x7. So no idea how to find it out?

The only things I see on the backside of the rim are:

5Zigen Japan
690 KG
02/10
ET 4/3
123
17x 7JJ

well you can call wheelmax and ask them if they still carry the rim, or you can get your your mm ruler and measure back from the back of the hub to the back of the rim

that wont do @!#$.

from what i've seen on previous wheels, the ET is sometimes denoted as the offset. "ET 4/3" MIGHT be denoted as an offset of 43mm, but that is a random guess. if there is no slash mark in between the 4 and 3 and you made a typo, then yes my educated guess is the offset is 43.

Yeah, there's a slash there. I can't even find the rims on any search engine, I bought them a couple years back. I don't remember the names of them, just what they look like.

Okay, I found it. They are the MK5, and the offset is 43mm. Thanks!

No... it isn't... because there'd be know way for the tire to know what type of wheel it's mounted on.

Looks like it's all figured out. As mentioned, it's usually denoted on the wheels somewhere, most often on the mounting surface somewhere.
