Is stretching tyres illegal in the USA?
Example:

I don't think so, but it could vary state by state in the vehicle inspections.

Well... most modifications are, but the local dub guys never have any problems with it.

Once people understand it's just for looks, it will be more accepted. I wouldn't do it to a car, but a bit of stretch can look pretty good. However the pic above is overkill.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

Stretching Im not sure but I know having extreme camber can get you in trouble.

Definitely looks like it would mean more problems than what its worth.

most don't even do it for looks... it's because they are trying to fit a ridiculously wide wheel for a concave look but can't do so with the proper size tire. regardless, it doesn't look good and on top of that can be very dangerous. i'm with pj.

Im asking because i was lookin at some new Enkei J Speed Classic wheels. I cant find any dimensions because they arent out yet. I like the look on SOME cars, and ive never seen stretch on a j. I may try it.

Stretch can be done but there is limits...I think it can look very good if done right.

if you haven't seen stretch on a j, you haven't looked very hard.

there are at least a few that have done it on here.

I remember 1 J in particular that stretched some tires on 19"s.

Keep looking Lassie and you'll find Timmy.

Technically my tires are stretched. 205s on a 7.5" wide wheel. It's a slight stretch at most, but 225s atleast should be on a 7.5" wide wheel.

its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa

That black one is pure sexy @!#$in WIN...

The silver one looks like the rim is about rub against the QP. Still awesome, and I stand corrected. these can look really good if they are done right. Also, toyota tails ftw

Both the black and silver ones are bagged.

I think the sedan pulls it off better than Chazz' old coupe. And Chazz' coupe was tits.

It will rub if provoked, it did on chazzs car too, but due to the rear door design on the sedans it is a lot harder than just simply pulling and rolling the fender. I've done as much as i can without cutting and its decent.

Yes, it rides like a bag of frozen @!#$s...but its due to a lot of variables. I've driven with out the bags on the 19's and its still bad, due to the stretch and lack of sidewalls...the bags rode great on 16's and 17's...but with the offset/width on the 19's i have to run at nearly full pressure in the rear to keep from rubbing the sidewalls of the tires. I will probably end up re-tubbing the rear and cutting a lot of metal out so all you will see will be QP and door skin, so the car can still move at full drop.
