the first time i ever took my dash off took me all of 15 min and thats because i had a blonde moment and thought i needed a small torx bit and i didn't have one so i used a small screw driver to undo the bolts until i realized i could used a socket after the dash was off ahaha
Just did mine today, also swaped in a z24 cluster
nice did u do the tin foil trick for the hvacs?
yay another project to add to my list :X
yah i hope mine come in today i wanna get this done looks awesome
For the hvac I picked up a set of small led's. Used the factory sockets to mount them.

looks a lot britgher in person...
Do we have any confirmation yet on how the lights work for the 2000-2005 series...?
pretty sure u need to solder the wires in the one that u see on page one i am pretty sure he had to get them soldered in

* * BIG FOR SALE POST * *
When I bought my z24 it already had a gauge face from Black cat customs and the cluster lit up red, well the gauges lit up red, the needles still like up that stock orangey color...could they have not replaced all the leds with red or something? I noticed all the pics in this thread show the needles the same color as the gauges so what could be my problem?
iirc the 2k+ have orange needles..so no matter what color bulbs you put in you will needto remove the needles and scrape the orange film off the needles with a razor blade

do you have any close up pictures of the heater knobs during the day? thanks!!
Will Bratcher wrote:in section 12-10 of Haynes repair manual for 95-04 models, it shows that you can remove the bulbs (at least with the 95-99 instrument cluster pics) but i looked for anything that said the bulbs could not be removed by 'normal people' but couldn't find anything. i assume that the bulbs can be removed from 95-04 models all the same. i'm going to try to replace my bulbs in the 01 if i can find the correct bulb number and i'll let you know if it works or not.
NO
The 2k+ clusters are completely different from the 95-99 in design. The two share very, very little with regards to design features in common.
The bulbs are a completely different style and, as it has been mentioned, must be desoldered if you want to put LEDs in their place.

IT IS NOT SAFE TO REMOVE NEEDLES ON 00+ GAUGES
you will ruin the cluster by doing so
