Gauge cluster

I have a 2001 sunfire and my understanding is that if I want my gauge cluster to be a different color than the stock orange-red color I will have to get a different gage cluster. I read another post that said the gauge cluster has a red filter piece inside it and that is what gives the color. Is this true?

you can get a reverse glow overlay to make it either blue or green off of ebay. doesn't cost very much at all and it just fits over your stock gauges. really easy to do.

When you put a reverse glow overlay on do you have to remove the needles to get it on?

no, NEVER REMOVE THE NEEDLES. you will surely ruin your cluster. to fit the overlays on, you turn the needles to 45 degrees(im pretty sure), and slide em over the needles
