Door Panels???
Wednesday, March 16, 2005 6:11 PM
i bought some door panels off what i think is a 96 cav, and i noticed something different. on my 03 panels, the arm rests were held in by plastic welds, but the ones i bought were like molded into the door. anyone know what im talking about? i wanna glass these doors and cover the armrest with a new fabric, but cant figure out how to get the armrest off to recover. any help is really appreciated.

I picjed one up like that in a junk yard off a 97 z-24. the arm rest is kinda like a cover. Im not quite sure how to explain it. The arm rest is a seperate piece that is just poped into place and held there with a little glue. Im sure if you just used a flat screwdriver and pryed a little it will pop right off. If you need more help I'll try to take a pic for you. Let me know.

your going to have to take the trim from around the door handle off to get it out because the plastic welds for the trim also hold that piece on at one spot... the fabric is stuck to a piece thats molded to the shape of the arm rest and then that piece is stuck to the arm rest on the door with a little glue like said.... take off the trim around the door handle then just grab the end where the trim was and pull and it will all peel off
