Shawn, is this a scantool or no... Scantool uses an ELM 322 interface (may not be 322 i am going from memory) .. ... if this product is indeed a scantool item then it seems that they would need the scantool box and would actually be gauges that plug into a standard DB-9 type serial cable for the display. If this is true than owners of a Scantool box should save a good chunk of change by buying just the gauges.... also If this is true then the refresh rate is only 4 hz .. which is 2 cycles per second on the single gauge(2 outputs) and only 1 cycle per second on the dual gauge (4 outputs) ... This is probably not fast enough for tuning but definitely is very nice looking and good information for the average user. If this is however does not use the actual scantool interface then there is probably a chance of faster refresh (how much faster i dont know the ECU only displays at a certain rate anyways) ... ... this is just my .02 cents about scantool...i've worked with them alot on pdas and on laptops..never seen a stand alone readout... If this is that what it is...hope this want too confusing and hope you can clear some things up about whether or not this is actually a scantool or if it is completely stand alone..

Thanks,

This would be something similair to LS1M or something like that. This tool plugs and is powered directly from the OB2 Plug in.

I did more research after my post ..i woudl like to clarify ..this is not actually a "scantool"(scantool.net) product..it is not proprietary and the only thing it requires is a GM vehicle that is OBD II (96 or newer) .... it does have neat features..but 200 for single and 350 for the dual seems quite steep ... what is the refresh rate on this??? how many times do the #'s change in a second roughly ?? ... That'd be my main buying point here and if i remember right its not gonna be much more than i previously stated about a scan tool w/ the ELM chip... ... Please clary shawn as you seem to be the only persno that has it..?..Thanks alot!

As you mentioned, it has no connection with scantool.net or any of their products.

It updates between 10-20 times per second, closer to 20 on these j-bodies. You need to see and use one in person to appreciate its value. No bulky laptop, PDA, or out of place looking box to deal with. It displays both generic and enhanced parameters. I don't believe you can purchase anything with these features for this price. Feel free to correct me!

No, but we ARE against people joining up just to shill their products.

So the fact that you're a new member and this is your only thread is reason for us to believe you're just here to hawk this thing. Do you even own a j-body?

Not to sound harsh, but if you want to advertise then there are legitimate ways to do so here and this isn't one of them.

It's my impression that you're just looking to spread the word and none of this is to undermine the way we do things here. We see this a lot and I understand that people new to here wouldn't necessarily think this was out of line.

That said, this IS a repost of something that's already been discussed so if you want to push it further, please look into the proper ways of doing so. Start by reading through the site rules and then contact Dave if you have any further questions.

And we do appreciate the attention. It's just that if we let people do this stuff the site will turn into one giant spam-pool.
