My Valve Cover Progress - Polishing (Pics)
Tuesday, February 08, 2005 11:25 PM
I'm not done with it but I was bored so I figured I'd show you guys my current project. I took a spare valve cover and of right now and sanding the hell out of it. Many places I've read sanded up to 340 grit or so, but I'm going up to 2000. I'm on 1000 now, a couple more days and I'll be ready to start buffing with tripoli and then on to white rouge. Let me know what you think

Make sure you clear it... or it will have surface rusty after a while.

Troof. But I do it all by hand. I might look into getting a buffer soon tho. Some stuff isn't becoming as polished as others.

What do you plan on polishing next? You can't just stop at the valve cover ya know....

Sandpaper...

I agree on doing it by hand, but that's old school right there. Polishing's MUCH easier my way It's a helluva lot shinier when you're up on it, though--more like my intake. That picture doesn't really do it justice.
