New Pics of Seats
Sunday, April 03, 2005 9:32 PM
ok guys, heres some pics of my new seats..i'd gotten them from a different kind of car..they are black leather..not your fake, stimulated, or partial leather.. they have 8 way power with heated bottoms n backs, with power lumbar. on both front buckets...i wished i would had upgraded to these a lonnnnng time ago... its a luxury felt experience you can't get from a stock cavalier......totally comfortable..even that rear seat is comfortable... i simply can't get enough of these seats..
the bottom picture.. rear seat is installed before i changed my gray carpet for the black carpet... i didn't get a picture of that rear seat after i switched the carpets... not yet anyways... i do plan on getting black seat belts a little later on.. so i wanted to state that before somebody points it out...

so here you go.. enjoy the pics.

try infiniti........

the whole works... fronts n backs.. 77 plus 50 to ship them, w/o a tear or anything wrong with them...
it was pretty easy - if you have some custom skills..
i had the brackets configured from polished stainless steel which i had in my own shop. so the total cost.. 77+50=125
since its from an infiniti car. its a 4 door car. the fronts are electric.. so i use the electric controls to fold the seat forward for any back passengers........

email me if you want me to detail - on how to put 4 door car seats in a cavie... its really simple.. especially these.. i think some other 4 door cars prob goes wider..these slipped in giving you room to keep your trunk release lever where it is..and give you hand room for the side controls

the rear seats mounting.....well you have to custom build your brackets for the bottom. the back you dont have to.. theres a trick to the rear.. you zip tie the back because both the latching mechanisms are close.. so no need to take those out.. just zip tie those --

now the bottom.. with these seats.. the bottom n the back has a built in latch that latches the backs to the bottoms.. so when you put the back part in first.. you can then slip the bottom in and push up and it latches.. then you can make some very short custom L shape brackets and bolt onto the bottom of the car ..

overall:::::gettin the bottom in is the trick part. if you got the balls or the guts...you have to actually take a propane torch and heat the sides(plastic wall) up, enough to make it give in..(where the bottom of the seat edges are pressed into the side) and when it does.. you have to have a cold rag placed on it,
the reason for this is.... the seats was like 2"s wider on each side than the stock seat.
so to gain those inches - i had to sink that plastic in further where the seat wouldn't be pressed against.. so now it fits like it should..

the rear on the left side.. when you are in the rear seat area.. the factory has a bolt or stud stickin out like 2-3 inches.. i'd grinded that stud off flat - and bend each bracket back with a heavy hammer ..that had held the factory rear seat back against the frame of the car...

no changin with the seat belts.. they are in the same locations

the rear back fits with the back deck part... once you put it in.. it fits snugged and its not going to go up or down.. i had people check it out and said it didnt' even need to be bolted in.. but i zip tied the back to the latching mechanisms just in case...

the height.. is perfect..... theres no room for the rear seat to go up.. it fits right in the rear corner like an inche from your side windows.. theres no room for it to go up.. which is how i like it to be.. not loose sliding around.. but its not to tight either.
it fits level with the rear deck..
the bottom.. fits level like the stock seats.. theres more paddin under your knee areas.. the bottom you sink in.. the back.. wraps around your sides.. not leavin you in the plastic on the side of the car...

i'd considered the rsx or celica's but they cost to much and if i remember -they didn't have that many power controls or etc...n i wanted fronts to be heated..
any seats will fit the car its just a matter of building the brackets to fit your car....
thats not a problem in doing so... just put the seats on some wood blocks.. adjust it to fit you n the car... get it where you want it and then measure out for your metal brackets.
i chose some thick stainless steel.. .. cut them out.. - grind the edges smooth... then heat where it needs to be bent.... and bend it.. then comes the polish routine.. u can skip all of these for just some black metal.. i went with polished stainless steel...

i went with these seats..
with the concept.. get seats that are slightly littler than whats in the cavailer...
rsx's - celica's should go in w/o problems.. lincoln ls' probably goes in also.. dunno about those lincoln ls.. mite be a tight squeeze.. just use your head n get some a little smaller in the width.. n it should be fine..

if they "look" to be wider .. pass them on by n go with some narrow ones....doesn't have to be much.. if you know what i mean
