New to J bodies...Items and things.

Hello everyone. I'm new so please don't kill me for this. Is there companies that make parts for the cavalier/sunfire? Which has more mods the cavy or sunfire? By mods I mean stuff besides bolt-ons like the I/H/E. What is the best route to go? What other forums is there that is dedicated to cavys and sunfires? Thanks.

I am driving a 91 accord with the h22 engine swap, 5spd conversion with stage 2 act 6 puck clutch, injen short ram intake, greddy exhaust. Now appearance stuff was done because I hate ricers.

I'm looking into the whole domestic thing becasue on ecotecpower.com there was someone with a built ecotec engine. It looks interesting so I thought my next car would be the cavy or sunfire. so please help.

thanks again.

performance wise, they share the same engines, so they both have the same number of mods when it comes to power. cavaliers tend to have more options when it comes to exterior mods though.

as far as other forums, this is pretty much the best place you're gonna find when it comes to j-bodies.

hey thanks guys. I think i'm going to buy a 2005 cavalier and do the i/h/e first. then i'll save get new suspensions and drop it down. then order the subs i use in my accord for it.

Ps. I'm only 16 so i'm saving money b/c my parents don't pay for anything.

oh and what's up with the 2.4 engine swap? Where does that engine come from? aren't all cavys and sunfires 2.2?

^ No, Z24's have a 2.4L, as well as GT's and some base models could be had with the option. There are a number of engines that were available in J-bodies througout thier lives:

2.8L V6 (1st and 2nd Gen)
3.1L (1st and 2nd Gen)
2.0L Turbo (1st and 2nd? Gen Pontiac Only)
Pre-95 2.2L
95-97 2.2L
98-02 2.2L 2200SFI
95 2.3L Hybrid
96-98 2.4L
99 2.4L
00-02 2.4L
2.2L Ecotec

So no, they didn't always just come with the 2.2L

You will not find a sohc engine in a 3rd gen J body -- even the earlier 2.2's (not ecotecs) were not sohc's they were over head valves

if you get a cavy with the ecotec - then keep that engine it would not be worth swapping in a ld9 (2.4L)

Sunfires and Cavaliers have the exact same engine parts availiable so pretty much get whichever one you think looks nicer

^^ yeah they are the same engines.. i just like the body on the cavy's more than sunfires but there are some sunfires that look HAWt as hell when they get fixed up a lil bit haha goodluck
