is it possible to do this at all?
Thursday, April 28, 2005 8:30 PM
i am about to get a 1997 cavalier (2dr) tomorrow, and try to sell my 1992 sunbird se (4dr). now the sunbird has a 3.1 L engine, V6. the cavalier is a 2.2 L engine, 4-cylinder. if the sunbird doesn't sell, i would like to try this: is it at all possible to do an engine swap and put the 3.1 L engine into the cavalier? are there any pros or cons to this possible swap? thanks

I'd get a 96+ 3400 at the least, it would be a very difficult swap for something that really isn't much better than a 2.4 HP wise, even though its a bit on the torquey side.

yeah the 2.2 will be better on gas....the 3.1 is pretty much a boat anchor and not worth the time , effort and money it takes to put it in.

you can always go to the junk yard and get a 2.4.... but i recommend getting an rsm supercharger and new injectors with it.....

the superchager is 3500 bucks, new injectors are like 300 then how ever much to get the thing installed
