5 speed swap help
Tuesday, September 22, 2009 5:32 PM
i have spent the past three hours searching on here for a write up on a five speed swap, and have had no luck!

I have two 98 z24 one convert with 5spd the other not convert auto. well the vert is totaled, my niece destroyed it! i bought the other with a bad engine, since the vert was just rebuilt less than 15k ago! I want to put the manual in while i have everything out cause it also has a new clutch and slave. can someone please point me in the right direction on how to do this? Would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

What is there to say? You need to swap everything trans related over... Im pretty sure the axles as well. Including the shift linkage, master cylinder, clutch pedal, etc.

Oh and the trans mounts are different so you will have to do some cutting and welding.

take the whole engine harness and pcm from the donor car.

And yes, take the tranny mounts, I think you might need to do some firewall cutting too. Just a small hole tho
