Early J-body handling, reliability

Hi, I've come to this forum to pick someones brain about early(First generation) J-body cars. What is the handling like, stock? Any difference between various J-bodies in suspension? What are some common modifications that improve the handling, and do they really do that much? Finally, what is the reliability REALLY like?

Just would like to note that I'm not really in the market for one, I'm just doing some research into older cars as a hobby.

I owned a 91 cav with a 3.1l when i was a teen. Beat the snot out of it and made it to 680,000ks. Would have went longer but blew the auto tranny in it. What a smoke show tho. Kept up with 5.0l stangs. Body like the rest of cavs not so great and had alot of front end hydro planning. All in all a good car if theres regular maintenence
