head problem 2003 ecotec
Tuesday, October 24, 2017 11:58 AM
I just replaced the head on my 2003 cavalier with a re-man unit. The cast numbers and all else is identical except for the fuel injector holes, the original insulators / collars are too small for the re-man head. without knowing the year or model it's off of. I'm lost. No one in the parts industry has any idea what I'm talking about and the re-builder says it's from a Saturn so I ordered a kit only to find the same size. The holes in the original head are .945 and the new head is .985. Any help would be appreciated.

I wonder... Did you buy an L42 head maybe? CNG?

Thanks Jason, after researching part numbers I finally found that the insulators are all the same size and on 2002 ecotec injectors were used without insulators and so had a .040 larger injector outer hole. I went to a junk yard and found a 2002 cavalier with a 2.2 ecotec took the rail, lines and injectors and sure enough it bolted up and ran with no problems. Thanks for responding
Tom
