got a 10.4 with my LN2 :)

So recently I just changed over to synthetic and I also used a K&N Oil filter. Went to the strip today and the only thing I've changed is the oil to synthetic, oil filter and I also have a B&M Shift Plus now.

All weight was removed..spare tire, subs...back seat and everything still in.

About 70 degrees outside and the B&M was on Stage one.

93 octane with a little bit of injector cleaner in the mix.

And street tires of course. Fastest time was a 10.400, our track is the 1/8 also.

Tickets are in my registration. All I can say is damn..I was surprised. lol.

the biggest thing is that you actually had decent 60' times. you only gained 2 mph, but gained almost .5 at 60 feet.

I know it! Idk what has helped the most, im thinking its the synthetic oil and oil filter. I also ran the 10.4's with the IAT resistor in, I ran about a 10.9 without the resistor.

I still don't believe it lol...what is the fastest time anyone has gotten with pretty much just an intake like me with the 2200?

It's only misleading if you assume its a 1/4 time.

Well since most people judge their time by the 1/4, it would only make sense to think

you meant the 1/4.

my 2.2 eco ran a 10.1 @ 70mph in the 1/8th, so you might be around 15.8 or so in the 1/4 if the top end of the track is the same for us lol.

why no 1/4 mile there?

The track use to be a 1/4, but years ago a guy killed himself and ran off of it, but some say he was suicidal. There is a track that is a 1/4 about an hour or so from where I live, but the 1/8 is like 15 minutes from home

Thanks for posting your time, It would be fun to see what I could pull in the 1/4, I have a feeling your eco is going to pull better in top end, but I'de like to see one day. I can tell that my car is crying or a higher flow exhaust also..

Dragstrip sunday, I hope my buddy brings his 305 camaro, or his SL2 Saturn, I can beat both of them now, before I didn't come close.

Does anyone know if headers and exhaust would be worth the money? What kind of gains are possible from either..and which should I do first?

You'll see some minor gains from them. They will help more with other mods to the motor.

You won't see any major gains till you dig into the motor. P&Ped head, bigger valves, increased compression and a good cam regrind. After that then you'll need a good tune.

The PaceSetter header is the most common, but the short 4" ball-joint collector kills a lot of the gains that a good header would produce. After the holidays, I'm planning on replacing the collector on my header with a 1.5" 4 into 1 merge 2.5" collector/flex joint/head pipe.

^this, it's not that it's not worth it, just don't expect major gains.

seems like youve done that before

Some of you forget that alot of areas out in the country 1/8th is the only thing around. Within 75 miles of carbondale there is three tracks...all 1/8.

Nothing wrong with 1/8. In fact I find it more fun. It keeps things closer and more competitive. It also makes the skill of launching the car properly much more important.

Congrats to the OP on the time...good work!

I suppose I could crush you with the idea my 2200 ran 10.5 in the 1/8 at half throttle...lol

Ummm no.
1/8 mile is where I learned and practiced my launches for more consistency in doing bracket racing.
It's invaluable because you're not causing the same stress on the car as you would be in the 1/4 mile.
And like Alex mentioned, it's more fun because in situations where you'd lose to a Honda (vtec) in the 1/4 because our cars suck on the top end, we can actually beat them in the 1/8 mile.

And congrats on the good time at the track Verocity.
I love seeing people that enjoy doing this and get excited about it while doing it.
That seems to have been lost with all this hp envy that has consumed the masses and basically taken the fun out of learning to drive the car to achieve better times.

Probably the best example would be me going to the track for the first time and running a 16.7 in the 1/4 mile.
After about 3 years of going to the 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile tracks on a weekly basis, got the times down to 15.6 in the quarter and 10.92 in the 1/8 mile.
Not bad for having loads of fun and taking what I had and driving it better.

Good luck man and hope you get better with driving the car.

Yeah, I'd say you are even beyond DRs. You need full racing slicks, so they can throw the rubber pills all over that nice paint job!
