I would like to know what's the faster time on 1/4 mile for a j-body and delta with a M62?

A quebec member do 12.48 with a m62 but there is probably faster.

and do you think 11.XX can be possible with a M62?

13.80 it's a good time. This year I do 12.905 and next year I want to do a low 12.XX and probably try the 11.XX for 2011 but I need of some opinion if that can be possible

Jon(Airtonics) did about a 12.8 with a built engine and M62. I have goodies in store for this winter, but im going to have to get alot more seat time at the track.

have you try your car at track tinkles and do you think you can break the 12.XX or the 11.XX

The goal is 11s, but the car needs ALOT of work and i need ALOT more seat time. I only ran the car once with the M62 and my best was a 10.2 in the 1/8th. It is not going to happen by next summer, but hopefully next winter will be good for the car.

i think the only way u are goin to accomplish 11s with just a M62 is to lose a bunch of weight off the car and find a way to keep the charger cool as possible. its biggest issue is heat. so u would want to go out and find several ways to do all the cooling mods u can think of. ie... big heat exchanger dual pass exhanger even, use the dual pass endplate, change out the fins on the intake manifold, use meth injection, maybe even use nitrous to spray on the heat exchanger, or even go as far as to fab up an icebox.

Oh, i overlooked the "M62" requirement...

I'll be happy with 12s with the M62.

therefore I am not the only who thinks that they can touch 11. XX with a m62

I think it possible with a lot of work an practice

not gonna happen for 99.999999% of people on the m62.
never seen anyone run lower than 12's on it.
i've seen an m62 car run 11's......it also had a turbo.
like said above though if you're even thinking about it. weight. and traction. lots of traction.

if n/a j-bodies can hit mid to low 13's surely an m62'd car can hit low 12's or high 11's.

yeah. the s/c is awesome for things other than dragging....auto x, road course...it'll eat tons of much more expensive things up there. but for straight line. you can't expect a 10 second beast.

ZZP claims this:

Fastest M62 powered Cobalt- 12.32@ 114+

Fastest M62 powered Ion- 12.2@ 119+

Traction is going to be key here, lots of power off the line but you can't use most of it. I was able to light up my drag radials with no problem.

If I could have done my build over again, I might have considered going with less agressive cams since I had to rev so high. Staying at high rpms with the charger (7500-8k) engine rpm and 18,000+ s/c rpm seemed to keep it in the lower efficiency range. With less cam I could have gone with a smaller pulley than my 2.8 having more boost throughout the rpm band.

Get an icebox setup, my iats went down a huge amount. On a hot 94deg day like the bash I watched them drop from 150+deg on one pass to 106 degrees after adding ice to the box.

11's might be possible in a perfect world I suppose. I wish I would have gone for it more however I can't change that now. Good luck to those who pursue it. Eventually I had plans of going with the harrop charger or a turbo before my car was parted out.

i think 11s could happen if you were able to keep traction off the line and use spray on top of it while keeping traction..

Wouldnt a 2 step help with the traction issues? Cut the power down for 1 sec on launch?

a 2 step is for consistancy on the launch not a traction aid

airtonic's was pretty heavily built - a good example of what you can do with the M62 if you want to.

Other than his thoughs above, there isn't much more you can do to make more usable power out of it on top of his build.

Once you have a 12 second M62 car, you're gonna have to focus heavily on weight reduction, traction and skill to break 11s.

or you just drop the m62 and slap on a harrop and you should be able to do big things

I wanna know if it's possible only with the M62 not the harrop
