Freak accident, stuff ripped off!

I can't believe this just happened... but I was driving home at around 230 and I am crossing over some railroad tracks... these tracks are about flush with the road and they normally do not jar the car at all (I've went over them alot before). But of course this time I hit them and some stuff gets ripped off the car! The pieces scatter over the road and the car's engine fails to respong to the gas and I have to coast to a stop... the brakes and radio still work fine but the engine has cut off.

So I gather the major pieces on the road and it looks like part of my inner wheel well liner had come loose... but there is some other @!#$ that got knocked off by or with it... there is a body colored piece of metal, a plasticky black box thing with a projection off it, and a silver box which looks like the computer that is still attached to the car but is now dragging... I had the car towed without even trying to figure it all out... it was freezing cold and I was piss tired... God things could not get much worse...

Anyone know what these pieces could be near the passenger side wheel well of a 1996 2.2L Sunfire? also how much they will cost

Sound like yout ECM, fender liner, under-spoiler, and some bracing the fender or raditor.. I can't quote think of anything else down there.

Can you get us some pics and we can point our what they are better.

ill have to get over there and take some pics but the ECM is a good bet since it was metallic silver and had wires attached to it... also the car quit completely so it makes sense that the computer got knocked out... there was no damage to anything else on the car including my front bumper... why anything would be just ripped off the car by a minor bump in the road is besides me :/

Thanks for the input although im grounded this weekend until the shop opens

Me and a friend stopped by the car tonight and plugged the ECM up and the car started right up... at least the thing is not busted... the engine was running rich but that was about it... we also think that a piece of the subframe had rusted off and knocked all of the @!#$ off the car, I never thought it was that bad under there

Sucks about your car, looks nice in the sig. Good to hear that it's at least running again tho.
Past coupla nites I've been takin' my 00 Cav off-roading (stock height) on some big snow mounds at work, doin' like 35+, crazy stuff I finished ripping off the fender liners (that were already busted) and had some serious fun doing it, my buddy in the pass seat said he never laughed so hard in his life. Other than the fender liners, and an f'd horn, my car is fine. Thing w/ the horn, I cut the openings in my front bumper up (kinda visible in the sig), and they're just open right now b/c the mesh got messed up earlier this winter, the snow/ice pushed the horn back and now it sounds like crap, lol

well, final tally

$50 in parts (evap condenser, ECM mount, wires, etc)
$180 dollars labor (bull@!#$)

plus tax it came to $240... they said that the inner fender bracing metal had come off (!!) and caused all the damage... at least the ECM is alright :/

this car is starting to turn into a money pit... and I'm not talking mods
