No one's mentioned that speed limiter is tied to speed rating on factory supplied tires. Has nothing to do with GM looking out for our safety, only their wallets.

-->Slow

i would assume most of the people in this thread knew that already. Not an SS model so it doesn't have the higher speed rating tires

but in case no one knew, now they do lol

False.
FE2 suspension had H-Rated tires: 130MPH.

    [*] You buy HP Tuners.
    [*] You need to unlock the VCM in your car to edit any parameters... including the speed and rev limiter.
    [*] That's as far as I'll go. There is no other way to kill the speed limiter. No shortcuts/ wire hacks/ anything like that. You need access to the engine computer, and if all you want to do is be able to go faster than 108mph, then buy a different car.

Anyways,
Since this got resurrected... Has anyone pondered the idea of setting the speed governor lower... to say 83 or 84mh in the case of a longer trip on the highway. I frequently make 4hr drives and always find myself bouncing between 70 and 85 in 5th. Not wanting to risk a speeding ticket I tend to let off the gas thinking I'm speeding up
(the turbo certainly doesn't help constantly being half-spooled so if you let off the throttle while cruising it flutters).

If I set he speed limiter to 84, I wouldn't have to worry about catching a ticket and loosing my license. Only worries are that I would be hitting the speed fuel cutoff constantly (every minute or 2), and I'm not sure if this is a problem in 5th gear around 2.3k

I roll on steelies. Work-in-progress daily-sleeper potential.

I drive my cars and trucks hard, but I've never hit the speed limiter in any of them. I got my old 9C1 Caprice up to 105MPH (170KMH for my fellow Canadians) once when I was young and realized I liked acceleration more than speed. So I tend to accelerate hard up until 40-45MPH and then back off. I like my 6.0L Silverado because I can outrun general traffic without ever having to push past 3500RPM

I dunno if people here are less haywire than I would of assumed, or just lying about it.

I've maxed my factory Canadian (220km/h or 140mph) speedo in the past.
