1997 Speed Density PCM
Friday, June 22, 2007 9:17 AM
Well I had the pleasure of downloading the VCM out of a 1997 Cavalier, LD9 5spd.... and the results are in - it's ALSO speed density.

I am beginning to think that 1997's were speed density and GM switched to Alpha - N in 1998. It explains why the S-AFC worked half decently on his car...

One thing to note.... the timing maps are all far more aggressive on his setup than on my 1998 pcm and the 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 LD9 pcm's I have downloaded... quite interesting.

So now that I have one registered, once HPT gets back to me I do believe I'm going to drop this into my car with a 2 bar.

Well, this is interesting. I stripped a 97 w/ 2.2 last year and kept the pcm to experiment with when the new engine's together. Sounds like I may have gotten lucky and picked the right year.

how the tables are listed in HPT.

MAP VS RPM, or TPS VS RPM.

Thought I saw something on techline / TIS saying SPS wouldn't allow you to flash to an older cal anymore. Is there a way around this?

if the tech. is savie, or if the TEC-II has the call in it already, you can get it. my TEC-II's have the GM charger CAL, in it because of me, when i got the kit back in 2003.

i guess you could always copy a cal with HPT and pass it around?

Probably won't know whithout looking at it with HPT. Seems the LD9's are hit and miss.
