i want to take my side moldings off of my 96 Z but the clear coat is starting to peel a little but under them...is there any way to fix this without repainting? ( just re clearcoating or something) so i can take them off

You could have the door scuffed down and recleared. The problem is if your car is metallic and you try to sand down the peeling and go all the way to base coat to try and get the peeling out you will sand the paint off the metallics and the metallics will be really shiny in that spot and the panel will have to be repainted. Make sure that if you do it yourself you go to the base of the problem or it will just come back. My best advice is to take it to a body shop to get it done. To answer your question, you can have the panels recleared, it really shouldnt be that expensive to do either.
