03+ Razzi Kit
Sunday, March 06, 2005 5:50 PM
Just had a few questions about the 03+ Razzi kit.

First off, I know this kit is a cover that goes over the stock bumper. Do you have to modify the front bumper at all to put it on or do you just put it on there?

Second, the rear end comes with two muffler cutouts which I don't need because I don't have dual exhaust. So I decided it might be better if I just find a different rear bumper for the project. Does anyone have any opinions on which rear bumper would line up fairly well with the Razzi sides?

I searched around for these questions but haven't found anything. Thanks in advance for any knowledge you might give me.

Sorry i'm an idiot. I know it requires modifications....i wanted to know how much you had to do to the bumper and whether it had to be a base model or ls.

If you have the LS bumper, cutting the bumper would is required....With the base model, you can just slap it on there..

you can have the body shop cover the other cut out for the dual exhaust.

here's what razzi says:

On kits that have dual exhaust outlets or "cutouts", we get many
requests from people to get instructions as to how to close off or
"plug" up one of the outlets to make the Rear Air Dam have only one
exhaust outlet. Here is the information we send them:
If you would like to plug up one of the exhaust cutouts on a Rear Air
Dam that has dual cutouts, here's what you could do:
1. First of all, trim off the "return" on the backside of the exhaust
cutout you want to plug so the cutout is flat on the backside.
2. Get a thin piece of aluminum or some other "hand-bendable" metal to
use as a "plug".
3. Cut it to the size of the hole you want to plug up..leaving it about
2 inches wider on the sides and the top so it overlaps the cutout on the
backside. You will be using this overlap area to glue the aluminum to
the part.
4. Bend your "plug" to match the contour of the cutout on the part.
5. Scratch up the backside of the exhaust cutout on the Razzi part with
a 36 grit sandpaper to create a rough surface to glue to. Glue the plug
in place...bondo would work fine as an adhesive or any other two-part
type adhesive would probably work fine.
6. Support the backside of the plug with fiberglass, laying the
fiberglass so it overlaps on the part as well......so you secure the
aluminum to the part.
7. Patch the seams and the entire front of the plug with bondo.....sand
smooth..and then primer and paint the whole part.

That's essentially how we would recommend plugging up one of the cutout
holes in a Rear Air Dam that has dual exhaust cutouts.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info pacrossbow....any other opinions on the rear? I really wasn't gonna take this to a body shop to put on. I'm looking to do it myself. It doesn't necessarily have to be an 03+ rear bumper cuz i have a 97. Just anything that might line up close.

Red Alert: If you do end up buying the kit and still don't want the rear bumper I would be interested in buying it off of you. It might be cheaper to buy the whole kit and sell me the rear bumper, then use that money for whatever bumper you want than buying individual pieces.
This would be especially good for me due to the fact you live in Norwalk and I am in Akron/Mansfield depending on the day of the week. If you are interested email me.
