05 Sunfire

Well, I have owned my car for alittle over 2 years and I was at a pontiac dealership and saw a blue 05 Sunfire. They're offering $3500 rebates and it has power options, 5 speed, 16 inch chrome wheels, and the 6 speaker stereo. The best part, is I may be able to get enough on trade on my car that I can end up with the exact same payment that I have now. So basically I upgrade my car, with no additional charge. I think I'm going to do it, but the salesman at the dealership is trying to get the numbers right for me. What do you guys think?? Now I pay 240 a month for my 03 cavalier, base with an automatic, and I think the sunfire is going to cost me 245. Kinda seems like a no brainer, but thought I'd get everyone else's opinion on it...

Any current style sunfire owners with complaints let me know...

Unless you're wanting an automatic and the chrome wheels, I'd go for the 1SV base model. It's hella cheaper. I'm going to be paying about 185 a month for mine.

I want the 5 speed, that's why I'm getting the sunfire, my cavalier is an auto. The chrome wheels aren't as important, but I'd like the power options (windows, locks, mirrors). And I like the wheels. I know the manager of the store I'm purchasing from, he's trying to pull some strings to get me more on trade for my car. I told him if he makes the payments right I'd buy it. I really like the car, it's alot sportier looking than the Cavalier IMO.

Just think though - now you will be stuck in a loan again. If your car is treating you fine I would suggest paying it off and then saving up money for a down payment.

I just bought a 2005 sunfire.......should have gone manual tranny, but got more rebate ($4500) going automatic. The only thing I will say about the sunfire is that if you plan to start modifying the car any time soon be patient. I've searched and searched for aftermarket stuff for an 05 sunfire and it's almost impossible to find. Good luck with whatever you decide!!

That's what I came down to. The payments would have been $20-$40 more a month, plus It would be paid off in 6 years verse my Cavalier being paid off in 3. After thinking about it for a while, though the power options and 5 speed would be nice...it's just not worth it.

Thanks for the insight guys. And if I get any more crazy ideas I'll be sure to let you know.

I know how it is from being in that position many times. Figured it would be one more thing to think about. Also if you can swing it, think about saving that 20-40 a month you would have spent until your loan runs out. It will help with the down-payment on a new car.

The 03-04 Sunfire is the EXACT same, so all parts will fit. 95+ sunfire and cavalier share the same engines, suspension and pretty much every other mechanical component.

That should help your search out.
