How to: Unlock your stock Delco radio

If your display on your stock Declo electronics radio is reading "LOC" This means Theftlock has activated.

This happens if your battery is drained, or disconnected. In order to fix this just do the following.

1) Go to your radio, hold down presets 2 and 3 for around 5-10 seconds, write down the 3 digit code that comes up.

2) Hit the AM-FM button within 15 seconds of the first step, another 3 didgit code will pop up, also write this one down. (If you mess up just start over)

3) Now that you have this 6 digit code, call 1-800-537-5140 (Have a pen ready to write down your unlock code)

4) When the recording begins press 106010 then *

5) The recording will then ask for your 6 digit code, enter your code followed by *

6) It will give you a 4 digit unlock code. (Write this down!)

7) Go back to your radio.

8) Press the MN button (Located under your display)

9) 000 will come up.

10) Press HR (to the left of the MN button) to make the fist two digits change.

11) Press MN to change the second two digits.

12) Use steps 10 and 11 to make your display agree with the code you were given by the recording. Hit the AM-FM button.

13) Your radio will now no longer read "LOC" but will be fully functional.

(If the first number the recording gave you was a zero, EXAMPLE-- 0###, simply leave the first digit blank, so type in the last three numbers.)

My first write up. Hope it helps some people, since I went about a week with no radio. I hope this is not a double post as I searched a few times and found no info.

Hmmm when I still had my old radio installed it never turned to LOC when the battery was disconnected. I thought the radio only locks itself when it is installed into a car that it did not originate from.

Might just need a little revision unless I am wrong. Otherwise great write up, it would be awesome if someone can verify that it works on all years.

Definitely needs a sticky.

^^^^^ It will only say "LOC" if you have the theftlock activated before disconnecting the battery, so if you were to activate it and someone stole your radio, they will not be able to use it without your code. yours does not display "LOC" because you do not have it active. I do believe there is a small LED somewhere on the radio that blinks while the car is off if you have this feature activated.

Stephen: this is pre 2000 and post 2000. The radio will say "theftlock" right on the front. here is a pic of the chevrolet theftlock radio, pontiac is similar.

And yes, STICKY THIS!!! great writeup.

Yea theftlock is activated once you lock the car either with the key or fob. Only reason I asked the question is that my old radio had the theftlock and one day I went out to my car to find the battery in the car dead. Dumped in a new battery started her up, everything was fine.

And yes, STICKY THIS!!! great writeup.

"106010"

If that is a dealer code I recommend having this post removed.

This ONLY works on a 95-99 J-body radio with the theftlock code having been programmed into it.

It WILL NOT WORK on a 2000+ radio. You need a dealer's Tech 2 diagnostic tool to re-sync the BCM to the radio. There is no other way around it, if your 2000+ radio is locked.

And yes, that number is a dealer's code. Don't get caught using it

agreed... 2000 + radios are tied to the BCM. it will say "LOCK" and the Tech 2 is the only thing that can synch the radio in your BCM.

The dealercode needs to be stripped out of this thread.... they could sue the .org for it being here in that form

This info has been posted a bunch of times. no need for sticky

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

New question.....If I take out a Thefhtlocked radio and place an aftermarket one in its place, will I run into any problems?
