can any one tell me or show me were the best place is to put the oil drain line on an ld9
Auto or manual? It can mean alot, like where you put it and what type of fitting you use.
Well hell you could pretty much put it right in the middle of the pan and use a straight, 45, 0r 90 degree fitting. Only thing you need to work around is the cooland tube that runs under it.
For auto's like myself, you either have to use a 45 degree fitting and to the right of the coolant tube which a complete pita, or a straight fitting and have a longer return line that goes around the rear transaxle. I opted to go between the pan and trans, and had to notch the pan alittle and grind some of the transaxle down a little.
thanks. will probably do it tommorrow
Into the block. I had mine drain well above the oil level.

As did I, but my fitting fits perfectly with no modification. Used a 90 degree fitting with a 45 on top of that tilting toward the driver side. It's tight though.

Yea this would be a better choice if you have the motor out of the car. But Im sure most would just rather drop the oil pan.
I actually did mine while the engine was in the car. Lots of care was required to keep things away from where they did not belong. Hurts like hell when a 57/64" drill bit takes a bite though.
