I posted this in maintenance form but to no avail so I'll try here.
Ok.
I'm not sure what I did.. but I'm having a weird(it sounds bad) sound happening.
I'm still a newbie of driving a straight so bare with me here...
We all know what feels like when your clutch slips, and the car jerks.
Well theres a sound it makes now when that happens.
IE; I was coming home this morning, and I was turning and I didn't shift down far enough coming out of the curve and my clutch slipped,
But in addition to the jerking and loss of power, it made a weird sound.
It sounded like a cross between the pop a car makes when it backfires and You know those metal lids on like baby food?
If you press the middle of the lid down, it "pops" back up?
And day to day the shifting handles differently,
Some days it'll shift between gears smooth and no problem.
Other days it'll take some force to push into gears.
And sometimes I have to play around to get into reverse(the stick only goes half way into reverse slot, not catching)
The clutch is only like 3 months old.
For the first week or so I was learning how to drive it and I slipped the clutch alot.
But I haven't has the clutch slip really since then.
Maybe four or five times since then.
It still runs fine, the only time it happens is like I said, if the clutch slips.
It does the same thing it always does, just now it "pops"

- putting the pieces back together -
wait i'm confused is it hard to get into gear with the car sitting or moving? i really doubt you burned a clutch in 3 months the only thing i could think is that maybe you broke some of the dampener springs on the clutch
Don't you bottom out?
- Yes I do
what kind of clutch did you put in?
was it a re-manufactured?
just to make sure i understand... you where exiting a corner in a higher gear and had to many rpms and released the clutch and heard a bang?
i would also tend to think it would be the damper spring broken and i have had this issue with a new clutch last summer (wasn't even 10 months old) i broke the metal holding the spring in.
to test it i would from a dead stop let of the clutch quickly without slipping it and stalling..( you don't actually have to start moving just disengage and engage) and listed for that sound. the damper spring should make that noise then because they are supposed to absorb energy to make for smother engagement and to help against stalling improving drivability. I'm not saying that they are supposed to make noise, that thats where a broken one normaly will. there are also other things that can make noises at this time aswell so dont jump bad springs to quick ( one for example is the thrust bearing in the engine)
