im thinking about keeping my back seats out...i have a 2 door coupe...but the carpet stops like right at the hump of the seat and then there is this huge gap where it used to fold down? has anybody removed their back seats and did something to make it look good? im usually pretty good at designing something...but i cant figure anything out
...are you trolls that dumb that you cant realize mid 15s is slower then 14s?
i saw a pic somewhere where they biult it with mdf, and then there are a couple of people that are "going" to do that!!!

Casper laid down some plywood and
carpeted it. Basically made a rear
deck for the car. Looks pretty good.
Just use cardboard for the layout then
cut and carpet.
i don't supose those aftermarket carpets extend all the way, do they?

i dunno if this is waht your looking for but I had my subs in the back seat it isnt hard to make a flat deck if thats all your looking to do as well
I think mine is pretty simple and basic but effective. I made it look as if back seats were never there.
I replaced my carpet with ACC carpet but had to get black carpet to match up and extend all the way back. I also shaved all my seatbelt holes to clean things up as much as possible.
Hope that helps.

can you post a pic of the junction between the ACC carpet and your black carpet?

LOL actually thats supposed to be the point to not see the seam. But if you look at it from say the top down at an angel you will see where they meet. The carpet up front is alot bulkier than what I used for the rear section.
Basicially what I did was bring the carpet about 3 or 4 inches under the ACC carpet then cut the ACC carpet down a couple of inches (don't worry about doing this on the rear portion its about two inches too long anways so even if you do decide to put seats back in you won't have a gap.)
I'm looking for a picture but can't seem to find one. In the second picture see the really bright spot? Well go down to almost the bottom and you will see a faint line from where it was seperated. I'll keep looking though to see if I can find one.

no i really don't see it..........
i'm not trying to look for faults, i'm just trying to figure out how you managed to do it so that the seem is invisible. The colors seem to match perfectl too...
unless its just the way the pic was taken.

LOL from that angle you can;t see it. If you are setting directly over top of it or behind it you see it. Its because the carpet I used on the back is extremely thin and the carpet for the floor is very thick. The colors actually do match perfect though they are different material. If you could find carpet as thick as the floors to match up then you would be able to make it 100% unnoticeable.
Unless you are setting in the back, or looking directly over it you can't see the seam.

the plywood seems like a good idea since im just lookn for something clean..but i still want something where i "have backseats" for a purpose if you know what i mean...so the plywood did it extend from the trunk or did you use a dip? i mean did you drop it off to where it looks like a bench?....pix?
thanx for the idea...and i might put subs there...but i dunno.
i just thought about making it a storage compartment with the plywood...anybody do this?

Rob Silvera<--- please don't use plywood...... unless your gonna glass it over.
if youre gonna glass it, then you would be a ble to get the actual form of the raised floor, use that as the inside of your storage compartment, and then use ¼", ½" or ¾" MDF depending on how strong you want the top to be.
As far as that idea goes, maybe biuild your stoarge up to the level of the trunk floor, and bring it up as far as where where the seat ends.

i dont want to have that bucket look...i just want a place that i can @!#$ my girlfriend when my parents are home...to be blunt....i was thinking about using it as a storage compartment...and what is MDF? i never heard of it....is it expensive? where can i get it? and then i would have an open area...so has anybody made like a custom door thing where i can still get in the trunk from the inside?
...are you trolls that dumb that you cant realize mid 15s is slower then 14s?
MDF..... the same material sub enclosures are made of..........
my local LOWES, i picked up a sheet 4' x 8' for a little over 20 bucks
here you can ONLY get it in full sheets, but they cut it down for me, since i already knew what sizes i was goiug to use........ plus the sheet will have an extra inch to play with....
think of particle board, but with a LOT finer sawdust... just ask an emplyee at your local lumber store, to point it out for you.......
the storage compartment, youre thinking of sothing that a CRX has?

i have no clue what a crx has....but if i make a "bench" type seat in the back with a drop down back...then why not be able to lift the bottom up and store some stuff in there...like my haynes manual, jumper cables...etc
